Village of Romeo Cemetery Board
April 19, 2024
At their April 17 board meeting, the Village of Romeo Cemetery Board:
-Approved the guidelines for a lottery sale of 49 plots that are currently available in the cemetery. Of that number, 47 plots were recently surveyed and plotted in an area that had been overlooked for burials. The remaining 2 plots were recently sold back to the village from the previous owner.
The guidelines for the lottery sale are as follows:
1. Only current village residents, with a valid Romeo address, can apply.
2. Applicants can request one or two plots only. Each plot can accommodate one traditional burial, or four cremation burials, or a combination of one traditional burial and two cremains.
3. Applications will be available beginning Monday, April 29, 2024.
4. Applications must be picked up in person at the Village Hall, located at 121 W. St. Clair. Applications will not be sent via email, postal mail or other means.
5. Applications must be dropped off at the Village Hall to avoid any possible delays with the postal system. Applications will not be received via email or other electronic means.
6. The deadline to submit applications is 4:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 22, 2024.
7. All applicants will be assigned a random number and applications will be screened by the entire cemetery board for authenticity.
8. A random number drawing will be held at the regular meeting of the cemetery board, which will be held on Tuesday, June 18, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. Applicants do not have to be present and will be contacted by the end of the business day on Thursday, June 20, 2024.
9. The price per plot is $1,000 and must be paid in full within ten days of the lottery (Friday, June 28, 2024) or they will be forfeited for another lottery date (to be determined.)
