Waste Management (Website) is a national provider of solid waste collection, recycling and disposal services. These guidelines have been prepared to clarify your role in helping us provide you and your community with the best service possible.
Your residential Collection Day is Thursday.
Collection begins early to minimize traffic congestion. Please have your waste containers at curbside by 6:30 am on collection day. If waste is not out on time it will not be picked up until the following week.
- New Years Day
- Memorial Day
- Independence Day (4th of July )
- Labor day
When these holidays fall during the normal work week, collection is delayed one day for the remainder of the week. For example, if a holiday falls on Monday, the normal Monday collection will be delayed until Tuesday.
Solid Waste Collection
Place general refuse (rubbish) in 32-gallon plastic or metal containers with handles or place in dark plastic trash bags. The full container may not exceed 50 pounds. Please do not mix solid waste with yard waste (compost).
Residents are allowed to put out one large bulk item per week. For example appliances, mattress, furniture or hot water heater. Refrigerators, air conditioners, humidifiers and any items containing Freon must have certification of Freon removed. Refrigerators need to have the doors removed.
Curbside Recycling Collection
We at Waste Management applaud your efforts to help preserve our natural resources and promote a cleaner environment through recycling. To assist us in maximizing the benefit of your recycling efforts, it is important you adhere to the following guidelines:
Recycling collection is done every other week, on the same day as your weekly trash collection. Dirty, improperly prepared or unacceptable material cannot be recycled. Please ensure all items are rinsed or uncontaminated. Please place recycling materials at curbside in recycling bins separate from solid waste and yard waste.
Milk, water and juice jugs or other containers with the plastic code (1) or (2) indicated on the bottom are recyclable. Please remove and discard lids and rings, rinse well and flatten.
Clear, green and brown containers are recyclable. Please rinse to remove food residue and remove all rings and caps.
The following items are not recyclable: plate or window glass, china, Pyrex and mirrors.
Metal food cans are recyclable. Remove lid and place in can. Please rinse all containers thoroughly and flatten.
Newsprint and circulars delivered with newspaper are recyclable, they may be placed in brown grocery bags or bundled with twine and placed on top or beside the recycling bin.
Yard Waste Collection
First Thursday Of April Through Last Thursday In November
Our goal is to provide prompt removal of yard waste from your community. To assist us in complying with State and Federal requirements, it is important you adhere to the Michigan State legal definition of "Yard Waste" in disposing of your yard waste materials: leaves, grass clippings, garden debris, shrubbery trimmings, brush or tree trimmings less than 2 inches in diameter and less than 4 feet in length." Items other than those described may not be legally disposed of in specifically designated compost (yard waste) facilities.
Place yard waste in paper yard waste bags, containers (32-gallon or less) clearly marked "Yard Waste". Full containers may not exceed 50 pounds. Small tree limbs and brush, less than 2 inches in diameter may be tied securely in bundles not exceeding 4 feet in length or 50 pounds. Please note that Michigan law prohibits mixing solid waste with yard waste for disposal. Do not place yard waste at the curb after the yard waste collection program has ended. It will not be picked up.
Please put yard waste materials at curbside in containers separate from solid waste and recycling.
Thank you for helping us help you.
